Capability level

Optimisation of the processes involved in producing items can result in production cost savings. Use this page to define a set of incremental levels that describe how well behaviours, practices and processes can reliably and sustainably operate your machinery to produce your finished items.

Create a capability level

  1. To add a new capability level, select Create from the main view or the Create icon in the split view.
  2. Enter the capability level ID.

A capability level can be attributed to multiple different production operations. You should consider the production behaviours, practices and processes, and enter an ID that works for an incremental model or set of levels. An operation that is complex, where the highest level of competence is required to perform the operation could have the ID Level 5 or Expert if the operator, for example, must be highly trained.

  3. Enter the capability level Name.

For the Level 5 example in step 2, the Name could be Maturity level 5 or Expert: Level 5.

  4. Enter the capability level Description.

Continuing with the Level 5 example in step 2, the Description could be Expert level of capability or Accreditation compulsory.

  5. Enter the capability Level so the level in the incremental model or set of levels is also represented as a value.

In an incremental model, the Level could ascend or descend in increments of 10 to accentuate the level of expertise, for example.

  6. Save your capability level.

Edit or delete a capability level

You can edit the fields that characterise the capability level: Name, Description and capability Level.

You can only delete a Capability level record that has not been assigned to a production operation in a routing or to a production operation for a work order.

From the main list, you can select and delete multiple capability levels at once. You need to observe the following deletion rule order before you can delete the capability levels.

  1. Delete individual resources: Tool resource, Machine resource, Labour resource.
  2. Delete resource groups.
  3. Delete the capability levels.

If a resource has been used on a routing or work order, you need to delete those first.
