Field descriptions: Material tracking

This page describes the fields for the Material tracking page. The fields in each section are listed in alphabetical order.

Material criteria block

Field Description
From released item
To released item

The item name to be made. The released item is defined as a bill of material.

Enter or select the same item code for the From released item and To released item fields to include all components to track for a single released item.

Enter or select the required item codes to include all components to track for a range of released items.

Leave blank to include all components to track for all released items.

From start date
To start date

The planned production start date.

For a single day, enter or select the same date for the From start date and To start date fields.

Enter or select the required dates to include all components to track for a range of production start dates.

Leave blank to include all components to track for all work orders.

From work order
To work order

The work order reference.

Enter or select the same work order reference for the From work order and To work order fields to include all components to track for a single work order.

Enter or select the required work order references to include all components to track for a range of work orders.

Leave blank to include all components to track for all work orders.

Site

The stock site code.

Leave blank to include all stock sites.

Status

The current status or progress of the components.

Completed: Work orders with components tracked in full.

In progress: Work orders with one or more tracked components.

Pending: Work orders with components not yet tracked.

Leave blank to include all work orders with components to be tracked.

You can track components when work orders are at status Completed, In progress and Pending.

Work order components grid

The list of work orders in production filtered from the selection criteria in the Material criteria block.

Field Description
Actual quantity

The quantity of the Component issued from stock for the work order.

The quantity of the Component still outstanding for the work order is the default quantity. Effectively, this is the total of the Expected quantity less the Consumed quantity.

The total of the Actual quantity and the Consumed quantity can be different to the Expected quantity. You can issue more or fewer than the outstanding quantity.

If additional stock is required to finish a work order you can over-issue the component. Equally, if production requires less than the standard number of components, you can issue fewer or partially issue the component.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Allocation status

The current status of the component stock issued for the work order.

Not allocated: The lots or storage locations the stock was issued from have not yet been added. You need to allocate and track the stock and any serial numbers.

Partially allocated: There is a discrepancy between the actual quantity of component stock issued for the work order and the lots or storage locations the stock was issued from. You need to allocate and track all issued stock and any serial numbers.

Allocated: All the component stock issued for production is allocated and tracked.

Component

The item code to be issued from stock for the work order.

The item is defined as component on a bill of material.

Component description

The item name defined on the Item record to be issued from stock for the work order.

The item is defined as component on a bill of material.

Consumed

The quantity of the Component issued and tracked, so far.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Expected

The quantity of the Component needed for the work order.

For unplanned components at Included status, the quantity matches the first Actual quantity tracked for the component.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Line

The sequence number of the component on the bill of material.

Name

The name of the item to be built or maintained.

The item is defined as a bill of material.

Number The work order reference.
Status

The current status or progress of the work order component line.

Completed: The component has been issued and tracked in full.

In progress: One or more components have been issued and tracked.

Pending: The component is not yet tracked.

Included: The component is new. The quantity consumed for the work order is tracked.

Detailed stock allocation window

Displayed when you select Allocate stock from the More actions icon for a component line. You can view information about the component stock that's allocated to the work order and any serial numbers, if the component is serial numbered. You can edit the stock allocations and the serial numbers. You can issue component stock as a single lot or split the issue by inspection and quality assurance rating, or to issue the items from different bins in the warehouse or workshop, or from different lots or batches.

Field Description
Item

The item name issued from stock for the work order.

The issued item is defined as component on a bill of material.

Remaining quantity

The quantity of the Item not yet tracked. This is the total of the Required quantity less the Selected quantity.

The Remaining quantity can be less than the Required quantity if the lots or storage locations to issue the item from aren't suitable.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Required quantity

The quantity of the Item issued for the work order. This is the Actual quantity entered in the Work order components grid.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Selected quantity

The quantity of the Item tracked in the Stock allocation grid so far.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Stock site The site name where the component is stored.
Stock unit The unit in which the Item is stored in the specific Lot or storage Location.

Stock allocation grid

Field Description
Available quantity The quantity of the Item in the specific Lot or storage Location that's available for orders.
Expiry date

The date after which the items in the lot should not be used.

Location

The specific storage space in the warehouse or workshop the Item was issued from.

Location management is only possible if activated for the stock site.

Lot

The identification number or batch code the Item was issued from.

Lot management is only possible if the Item is managed by lot on the Item record.

Quantity to allocate

The quantity of the Item issued from the specific Lot or storage Location for the work order.

The quantity is expressed in the Stock unit defined on the Item record.

Serial number

Serial number entry instructions.

To select: The issued component is serial numbered. Add the serial numbers issued for production to the Serial numbers grid.

Partially allocated: There's a discrepancy between the issued component quantity and the tracked quantity of serial numbers. Add all the component serial numbers issued for production to the Serial numbers grid.

Selected: All the component serial numbers issued for production are tracked.

Status The inspection and quality assurance rating of the Item in the specific Lot or storage Location.

Serial numbers grid

Field Description
From serial number

The serial number or the lowest of a range of serial numbers on the issued components.

Quantity

The quantity of sequential serial numbers on the issued components.

1 if the issued components have ad hoc serial numbers.

To serial number

This serial number is entered automatically. It displays the last serial number of a range of sequential serial numbers or the From serial number if the Quantity is 1.

Dimensions window

Defines attributes and dimensions that can be used to aggregate financial information for analytical purposes.

You can only select dimensions and attributes that already exist.

Field Description
Channel

Identifies a channel dimension.

Department

Identifies a department dimension.

Employee Identifies an employee attribute.
Project

Identifies a project attribute. When you include a project, the Task field is available.

Region Identifies a region dimension.
Task If you selected a project, identifies a task. Tasks are linked to projects.
