Generate journal entries

You can generate journal entries immediately or schedule a generation task for transactions like shipments and stock movements. The entries are sent to your financial solution.

You do not need to generate entries for invoices and credit notes.
The types of journal entries that can be generated depend on the posting options on the Company page.
Your financial solution determines which posting options can be enabled or disabled.

Generate entries

You can generate entries for transactions like shipments and stock movements that are sent to your financial solution immediately.

  1. Enter your criteria including one or several document types.
    You can leave all fields empty, but a large number of journals to generate could drain resources. Consider scheduling a generation outside of peak activity time.

  2. Select Generate to send to your financial solution.

You can view details on the Journal entry page.

Schedule a generation task

You can schedule when journal entries are generated and sent to your financial solution. This is not a recurring task; it is a one-time mass generation. For larger volumes it could be beneficial to run the task overnight to improve progress and logging capabilities.

  1. Enter your criteria including a financial site and one or several document types.
  2. The date fields filters for journal entries to generate within this time frame.
    You can leave all criteria fields empty, but a large volume of journal entries could impact performance.
  3. Select Schedule to open the New batch task wizard.
  4. Select Run once.
  5. Enter a future start time and date for the task.
    Enter the hour in 24-hour format. For example, use 15 instead of 3 p.m.

  6. When you select Next, you are on the Jobs schedule page.
  7. Review and update details as needed and Save.
