Location sequence number

Records or documents generated in Sage Distribution and Manufacturing Operations can be assigned a sequence number. A sequence number is a progression, or an ordered list of numbers governed by a pattern or rule.

This page defines the structure for the sequence numbers used when you create locations, in particular when you use the Location mass creation page.

Sequence numbers for others records or documents are managed in a different page. See Sequence number.

Create a location sequence number

In the header, define the main information for the location sequence number:

  1. Select Create.

  2. Enter the ID and the Name.

Components grid

Each component that makes up the structure of the location sequence number must be defined in a line. To define a component, perform the following actions:

  1. To create a new line, select Add.

  2. Select the Type of component:

    • If you select the Constant type, enter the constant. The Length is displayed automatically.

    • If you select a different type, enter the Length, the Start value and the End value.

The Sequence number length field displays the total length of the location sequence number including all components.

  3. Select Save.

The Number of locations field displays the number of locations that can be attached to the location sequence number.

When a location sequence number is used in the Location mass creation page, set this sequence number with a number of locations less than 10,000 to avoid long processing times.
