MRP synchronisation

An MRP calculation request matches your supply of components, raw materials and stock items with current and future demand for your released and other items.

Before an MRP calculation request is run, MRP needs your current data records in order to analyse what to purchase and/or manufacture, by which date, and the type of demand that creates the anticipated production.

Synchronise MRP

You need to synchronise MRP with your data records before your first MRP calculation request run that includes the data type, or after a new record has been created or an existing record edited for that data type. You can continue to edit your data records whilst MRP is synchronising with the data type.

You should regard MRP as an integral component of your stock management that can help identify component stock shortages and generate recommendations to satisfy these stock shortages.

  1. To synchronise your current data records with MRP, from the main list, select the data Type to synchronise.
  2. Select one of the following checkboxes if records have been deleted from the data Type database tables:

    • Select Synchronise all records if the selected data Type contains a large volume of records or a lot of records were deleted after the last synchronisation run. This option optimises the time it takes to synchronise the data records with MRP. The database tables needed for an MRP calculation request will be emptied then resynchronised afresh with the current data records.
    • Select Synchronise deletions if only a few data records have been deleted since the last synchronisation run.
  3. To synchronise the data records with MRP, select Synchronise.

When the MRP synchronisation run displays Success, you can request an MRP calculation.

Schedule a synchronisation task

On the Job schedule page, you can schedule when MRP synchronises with your Bill of material (BOM) records. Scheduling this task increases time available for higher-value tasks. The New batch task wizard guides you through the scheduling process. You can decide how often to run the synchronisation task and when and at what time the task runs. You can delay the start and if you set up a recurring task, you can decide if the task runs daily or weekly and when the task stops repeating.

Tasks are active by default. The default job definition is MrpSynchronization.

On the Job schedule page, on the Execute history tab, you can view the list and status of executed jobs.

On the Batch task history page, on the Logs tab, you can view the results for completed jobs.
